The European Union has become the largest buyer of Russian liquefied natural gas, even as the 19th sanctions package includes a phased ban on LNG imports from Russia, the Guardian reported, citing data from the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air.
Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports to the European Union rose by 1.7% in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2024, exceeding 11 bln cubic meters, according to data from the European analytical center Bruegel.
This year, China will purchase more liquefied natural gas from Russia, the ambassador said. He noted that there is strong demand in China.
